Golf Outing a Great Time

Sig Ep Golf Outing 2015 Highlights

What a fantastic day!  Temperatures in the low 80’s, low humidity, blue skies, light breezes and excellent golf scores.  Thanks for participating and we hope that you will join us for next year’s event which is tentatively scheduled for August 6, 2016.

Now for the results.  In first place with a scramble score of 57 which is 13 under par is the team of Wade Guzdanski,  Greg Lemenchick, Scott Phillips and Jon Cross.  I am told Cross keep them in stitches the entire round.  Look on the grin on their faces below before the start of the round which should have told us all something.

Guzdanski Team – 1st Place

In second place there was a tie with a score of 62 which is 8 under par between the Bob Barnett Team and the Ed Merritt Team.  As the rules state, low putts is the tie breaker and the Barnett team consisting of Bob, Ken Misener, Mike Roberts and Jim Bates came in second since they only had 23 putts with Ed’s team consisting of Ed, Bert Cousins, Macalister Auciella and Matt Davis came in third with 25 putts.

Barnett Team – 2nd Place

Merritt Team – 3rd Place

In the individual skills contests, the long drive went to Wade Guzdanski, while the closest to the pin was won by Ed Merritt and John Waggoner won the longest putt made.  Congratulations to all of the winners.

Equally important is the amount of scholarship money raised by this event which will be contributed to the Ohio Gamma Scholarships funds. Through your mulligan purchases and registration fees, we raised over $500 and since all 3 winning teams donated their prize money to the Chapter, an additional $230 was raised.  Also I wanted to mention that the winners of the 60’s reunion golf outing which just happened to be Dave Cessna, Bob Ringland and Mike Lockwood also included their donation of $45 in scramble winnings to the Chapter.  I also heard the special Scott Phillips – Bob Barnett challenge bet will also be making a donation.  Thanks Bob for your additional contribution.  Congrats Scott.

Carl Alexander, a Sig Ep from the early 1950’s, had planned to come to dinner.  Unfortunately, he was not able to leave his Grove City home since he recently had his driveway and sidewalks replaced and the  concrete was not yet cured sufficiently so that he could drive on the new pavement.  Carl is sorry he could not attend but he is aware of how good the Chapter is doing at Ohio State and wanted to make a donation and sent us a check for $100 to be included.  Oh by the way, Carl is in his mid 80’s which just goes to prove – once a Sig Ep, always a Sig Ep and Proud to be one.

Thanks again for everyone attending and for your contributions.

Fraternally,

Mike Lockwood and John Waggoner
